Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, Minnesota

Portal Lounge is redefining the airport layover experience at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. Morcon Construction transformed two former retail spaces—the existing newsstand and XpresSpa—into a 3,447 SF gaming lounge featuring a full-service bar, buffet, gaming stations, a robotic bartender, back-of-house food service equipment, and new restroom facilities. Delivering a project like this inside one of the region's busiest airports required careful planning and coordination, with every phase of construction taking place alongside active passenger traffic, airport operations, security requirements, and neighboring businesses that remained open throughout the renovation.

As demolition progressed, the team uncovered numerous existing conditions hidden behind walls and above ceilings that could not be identified during design. Working closely with the Metropolitan Airports Commission and project partners, Morcon coordinated design revisions and construction activities to keep the project moving while maintaining the high standards required in an active airport environment. The completed Portal Lounge has quickly become one of MSP Airport's most talked-about passenger amenities, showcasing the power of teamwork, adaptability, and quality craftsmanship.
