Careers In Construction

Meet Morcon: Max Mallery, Superintendent

Max ES3A1688With 20 years at Morcon, Superintendent Max Mallery has built a career rooted in craftsmanship, problem-solving, and leadership in the field.

Max came to Morcon from a residential contractor, and the move into commercial construction was a big change. Early on, he partnered with a seasoned superintendent who helped him learn the ropes of the commercial side of the industry. Starting out as a carpenter, Max took on many of the tough, behind-the-scenes jobs that keep projects moving. Over time, through hard work and experience, he moved up through the ranks and eventually into leadership.

Throughout his time with Morcon, Max has worked on a wide range of projects—from retail build-outs and ground-up construction to major work at MSP Airport. Some standout projects include the G-Infill project during COVID, which required navigating complex phasing challenges, and Surdyk’s Liquor Store, a project that earned recognition from the RE Journal. He also helped self-perform carpentry work during the original MEDITECH first-floor renovation.

Now leading the 21,500 SF MEDITECH third-floor renovation in Minnetonka, Max says the project is especially rewarding. Morcon is serving as Construction Manager, allowing the team to collaborate closely with project partners from the start. Max was excited to return to a building he already knows well—and to work again with many of the same team members who helped make the first phase a success. A bonus on this project: reconnecting with an old Lakeville High School friend from WTG Grazzini Terrazzo & Tile who is also part of the team.

One of Max’s favorite parts of construction is watching a project evolve—from the early rough-ins to the final finish work, seeing the transformation come together piece by piece.

Outside of work, Max enjoys spending time outdoors. A few years ago he even built an off-grid cabin in northern Minnesota, where he enjoys upland bird hunting, snowmobiling, and other outdoor adventures.

Thanks, Max, for two decades of dedication and leadership in the field!
