Morcon Breaks Ground on the new Mall of America Transit Station Project

Today, in partnership with Metro Transit, Metropolitan Council, the City of Bloomington, Hennepin County and the Mall of America, Morcon Construction broke ground on the $25 million Mall of America Transit Station project. A transit hub for the entire region, the Mall of America Transit Center boards more than 5,600 people a day, as a connection point for light rail, the Red Line, and dozens of Metro Transit and Minnesota Valley Transit Authority bus routes. Construction includes major safety updates including rerouting traffic and pedestrian flow through the station, a direct connection into the mall, improved lighting, new signage, new bathrooms, a large interior corridor and waiting area for winter months, as well as a new police substation. Overall, the renovation will provide a safer, more efficient, and more enjoyable experience for transit riders.
